Organics

Organic agriculture prohibits the use of synthetic chemical fertilisers, but there is a wide range of natural fertilisers available to help maintain soil fertility on organically certified farms. Altum has a range of BioGro-certified products that are suitable for use on organic farmers. Between them, these products will supply 15 of the 16 nutrients that are necessary for pasture production and animal health. The only nutrient that Altum does not supply in an organic form is nitrogen; in most pastoral farms the need for this nutrient is met through the nitrogen-fixing ability of clover. If more nitrogen is needed, materials such as dairy farm effluent and chicken manure may be used. Our product range covers the following nutrients:

  • Potassium – natural sulphate of potash (SOP)
  • Sulphur – elemental sulphur, natural sulphate of potash (SOP), gypsum
  • Lime
