The SustaiN® range is our unique take on nitrogen fertilisers, designed to grow more grass and to protect your urea investment.
Urea is a great tool for New Zealand farmers who want to grow more grass when the weather conditions are favourable. However, in some circumstances part of the nitrogen in the urea can be lost through a process known as volatilisation. This is a natural phenomenon and involves the loss of ammonia gas to the atmosphere. It’s of most concern when conditions are hot, or dry, or when there is low crop cover.
The SustaiN range of products is designed to slow the natural conversion of urea to ammonia, so reducing volatilisation losses and making more nitrogen available for plant uptake. It can also reduce the amount of nitrogen lost through nitrate leaching.
To make SustaiN products, we coat urea with AGROTAIN® nitrogen stabiliser, a urease inhibitor that slows the conversion process and keeps nitrogen in the urea form for longer (10-14 days instead of 2-3).
