The GranMAX range of products offers an effective way to apply long-lasting elemental sulphur to your farmland - along with other nutrients, as needed.
Sulphur is often deficient in New Zealand farms, yet it's an essential nutrient if productivity is to be maintained, and production goals met. In fertiliser, it can be applied in two forms - readily available sulphate-sulphur, which is good for meeting immediate needs; or more slowly released elemental sulphur, which provides a sustained supply for long-term needs. Both forms have benefits - and challenges.
Sulphate-sulphur is ideal when you need sulphur immediately, but it's vulnerable to loss through leaching, meaning it shouldn't be used in the cooler, wetter months. Elemental sulphur is an excellent way of providing sulphur through the year, but it can be difficult to spread on farm. The finer the particles, the more effective the product - but the more difficult it is to spread.
GranMAX products overcomes the challenge of using elemental sulphur, thanks to specialised manufacturing technology developed right here in New Zealand. Elemental sulphur is finely ground, mixed with other materials as required, then compressed into a hard granule. This allows safe and easy spreading of the sulphur, and also improves the rate at which naturally occuring soil bacteria can turn it into the sulphate-sulphur that is used by plants.
