Dairyking is an RPR-based fertiliser that has been developed to meet the needs of New Zealand dairy farms. The Dairyking range includes fertilisers for both capital and maintenance use, with different ratios of nutrients to cater for the varying requirements of different farm systems.
Dairyking products may contain DAP, SustaiN, sulphate of ammonia and elemental sulphur, depending on pasture needs. The products are formulated to supply both immediately available and phased-release nutrients, to keep your pasture growing throughout the season.
Dairyking can be used in all dairy farming situations. The products may be applied in spring or autumn, as maintenance or capital dressings. Dairyking is suitable for both groundspread and aerial top-dressing.
In fertiliser, sulphur is supplied in either the sulphate form or as elemental sulphur. Sulphate sulphur can be taken up by plants immediately, and is best applied in spring, to avoid loss through leaching over the wetter winter months. Elemental sulphur is not vulnerable to leaching losses, but cannot be taken up by plants until naturally occurring soil bacteria have worked their magic, converting elemental sulphur into sulphate sulphur.
The speed at which sulphur is released from elemental sulphur particles depends on soil temperature and moisture, and on the surface area (fineness) of the product.
In warm, wet northern parts of New Zealand sulphur is released more quickly from elemental sulphur particles. To slow this process, we use a larger granule size in our products destined for northern regions. For products that are going to be applied in the colder and drier parts of the country, we use a finer sulphur particle. In this way, we optimise the sulphur release no matter where in the country you farm.
